Study tour on EE in Commercial and Residential Buildings

A study tour on "Energy Efficiency in Commercial and Residential Buildings" has been organized from 19 August to 23 August 20l3 in New Delhi, lndia by Regional Energy Efficiency Programme (REEP) of German Development Cooperation – GIZ, India on behalf of German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Representatives from Department of Electricity Development, Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS), Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Urban Development, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office and Nepal Bureau of Standard and Meteorology (NBSM) participated in the training that introduced to best practices technology solutions for EE in the building sector. The tour also participated by representatives of Bangladesh and India provided a learning and exchange platform, where Indian approaches, experiences and challenges of energy efficiency measures in the commercial and residential sector were shared among the participants. The tour also provided a platform to understand the need of a financing and regulatory system including building standards, codes, labeling and certification schemes. The event also created opportunity to create networks, contacts and to discuss possible ways of collaboration between experts and representatives of the participating countries.
